MCIE Product Cost Planning and Control System (UniCost)

UniCost is the MI Systems Advanced Product Costing system which provides the capability of generating both standard and current costs using material, labor, fixed and variable burden, and setup rates.

Current Costs are product costs that are determined by the most up-to-date information available for labor, material and burden. Costs can be input on a day-to-day basis or when the user desires to generate new information.

The system provides the ability to simulate or allow what-if conditional transactions. Also, the user has the option to create computer files and output reports or to generate hard copy only for secured distribution. The system also has the ability to cost at the single item level or for subassemblies or assemblies. The system also includes purchase cost or constructed cost, including labor rates by category, work station, department, shift, etc. Material cost is included by part, single bill level, subassembly, assembly and end product. Cost adjustments for material price or labor changes can be made automatically with mass maintenance and the where-used search capability of the MI Systems manufacturing database (DATAMANAGER). Cost simulation, routing and bills of material costs are displayed or output to printer.

The UniCost system calculates standard and current costs at the operational level. The cost buildup is created and maintained for labor, material and burden. The user has the ability to accurately cost work-in-process; obtain accurate scrap costs, product What-If calculations for proposed changes and cost estimates, produce make vs. buy decisions, and develop variance calculations for work-in-process.

FEATURES

Provides labor, material, variable and fixed burden, oversized costs and the part operation level for:

work-in-process, costing at any level of completion

accurate scrapage and/or removal costs

better make vs. buy decisions

Provides costing criteria for either standard costs or direct costs.

Gives a costed audit trail of the effect of changes on a product.

Automatically updates cost variance criteria with maintenance to the CIM engineering database.

BENEFITS

Frozen costs may be established for accounting usage.

Variables can be tracked for performance and engineering changes separately.

Cost accounting draws from the same, up-to-date database at all times giving consistency and accuracy with the realities of shop floor production.
